Scorpions

scorpionScorpions have a flat, lobster like appearance. They have a tail like extension from their abdomen with a prominent stinger at the tip. Baby scorpions are born alive and will ride on their mothers back for about the first week. Scorpions are nocturnal and require moisture. For these reasons they are generally found during the day hiding in moist shady areas such as under stones, bark and other items on the ground. They emerge at night in search of prey, insects, spiders, and millipedes. In central California a scorpion sting is generally resembles a bee or wasp sting. Scorpions are not generally found inside homes. When they enter a home they will seek out moist areas such as kitchens, bathrooms, and laundry rooms.
